This is an excerpt from LVM 29, which will be premiering at the Asheville Pizza company on March 19th. I’m posting it here because it features none other than yours truly, doing what I love to do- attaining. John Grace and I filmed this last summer, where he gallantly attempted to paddle up the whole river with me. Keep in mind, I have been doing this for over a decade, and he was right off the bench.
For more details on how to get this video, and much, much more sent to your house every three months, visit lvm.

Seriously amazing, John. I hope to be able to get all the way up as well someday, but I gotta get my hands on a WW boat.
Any advice on getting through Cuke in a Phoenix?

Thanks Matt. You know, it’s something anybody can do with just a little determination. Cucumber in a Phoenix used to be possible at higher water levels- like 2.9 and then again at mid to high 3’s. You would paddle up behind guide rock and then ferry across to river right. In fact, you could ONLY do this move in a phoenix- a wildwater boat would peel out before you could get into guide eddy. However, the river has changed a bit below guide rock, and I’m not sure if this is still possible. You’ll have to go out and investigate.

Love it.
Funny that this video gets my heart racing more so than most paddling flicks.
I’ll be right there with you someday!
