This October the US National Championships of Surf Kayaking was held at the old lighthouse break in Buxton NC. A new event was also held in conjunction with the Nationals, named Battle for Hatteras, where teams of 3 paddle surfers compete for the Hatteras Lighthouse Trophy, bragging rights and some nice prizes.
2010 US National Champion and 5-time US Surf Kayak Team Member, Anthony Bell slashes the lip before making a long run down the line in his short boat.
Teams consisted of a Wave Ski, Short Boat and Long Boat. Gordon and Anthony actually formed our team, THE DEATH EATERS (we’re obviously three mean and scary guys), and I was inducted after the initial formation.
