If you frequent the IR site, kayak the Yough or relentlessly call IR there is a good chance you’ve met me. My name is Jon Harmon and I consider myself the air traffic controller at Immersion Research. Handling many different tasks and adhering to customer service it’s hard to put a brief description of what I do here. One of my favorite things do on my free time is kayak. Specifically whitewater boat riding.
This morning, it was a brisk 8 degrees while loading my boat, and heading for the Top Yough. After not boating in four weeks as everything has been frozen solid I was motivated to brave the cold. Meeting Andrew Robinson and Justin Teague at the take out, we loaded up and headed to the put in. The river banks were stacked with ice and the whole crew was trying to smile as our hands became frozen brown claws. With good lines and all the rapids free of ice we arrived to the take to the task of taking off frozen gear.
Below is a photo of one of my favorite pieces of paddling gear that IR doesn’t officially make. With this post, I’m hoping to spark some interest and convince the powers at be to make these and sell them on our website. Yes I’m from Ohio, and really like Frisbee, but these wrist warmers really do help insulate and protect your wrists when paddling in frigid temperatures. Please add a comment if you have interest in some wrist warmers.

Harmon! You crazy s.o.b.! Looking good man!
You can also slip them onto cans or bottles of beer to keep your beer cold!

Forgive my ignorance, but where exactly would they be worn? In between the latex and Velcro-enclosing sleeve? If I sent my drytop back in, could they be sewn into the current sleeve?

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the feedback. We will put these up on our outlet site in the next day or two. Here is a little run down on how I wear the wrist warmers. Once I'm all geared up and ready to put on, I pull my trusty wrist warmers out of my Astral life jacket pocket and put them on. With my Comp LX and DD drysuit I open up the hook and loop outer wrist cuff and slide the warmers over my hand and over top of the latex. Then I close the outer wirst cuff over top of the neoprene wrist warmer.
I want some, but as a possible remedy to water that makes its way into my wrist gaskets, particularly while playboating.
They offer not only warmth but the perfect amount of support for your wrists. I have had bad wrists for the whole time I have been kayaking. These wrist warmers offer enough support to take the sharp pains away. I highly recommend these to all who are into cold weather kayaking.
Looks like the beer coozies I suggested years ago! I'd buy some.
What are they made from? I thought neoprene was the way to go for warmth in freezing weather.
The wrist warmers are made with a 3.5 Supratex neoprene throughout. Neoprene does an excellent job of insulating.
Do you make a magnum? Wait what are these for again?
I'd buy a pair the look awesome
These are exactly what my son needs for his rowing. No gloves allowed but its freezing so neoprene wrist warmers are the answer! Jonathan
