During the month of March more big Crappie are caught than any other time of year. As we all know March weather is very unpredictable. Sunny skies can change quickly to cloudy, rainy and windy fast as it did on the day these Slab Sized Crappie were caught.

When fishing began the skies were clear and the temp. in the 60′s. Within half and hour the clouds rolled in and the winds really picked up as the temp. started to drop.

Lucky, I had my IR jacket and pants stored in my dry bag and was able to pull them up and on before the showers came and we located the fish. Without IR I would have been headed to the warmth of the truck instead of staying warm and dry on the water and catching these, along with several more, monster sized Crappie.
