This is my 13th season kayaking so I’ve been through a lot of gear over the years and have a good idea of what works (for me at least) and what doesn’t. I picked up an IR Comp LX dry top this winter and have only worn it on the river here in Alberta a few times but am most impressed so far. I wear an IR long Sleeve Thick Skin underneath for insulation and in tandem they are the perfect cold water combination. The seams are taped better than any other dry top I’ve owned to date. The velcro on the waist and wrists is reinforced and looks to be buff enough to last (in my experience drytops often have issues with the stitching or velcro separating from frequent use). The material itself is very durable and easily stands up to backwoods bushwhacking through thick spruce and pine that spring creeking in Canada entails. Even after a 4 hour playboat session not a drop of water got past the wrist seal. Very impressive - kudos to Immersion Research on gear well made.

IR has been a long standing favorite of mine, and this jacket has just help prove my point. Very well sealed, and great gaskets.
