Phil Eccles here over in Wales, UK.
I’m on the Team Sweetwater challenge this summer in the Artic and I have just come back from running a sea kayak week on the west coast of Ireland. I wore my union suit every day under my IR drysuit. It is comfortable, warm and absolutely the business for paddling in colder waters. It dries quickly too so it’ll be definitely be on my list for Baffin Island in July.
Thanks IR

How does the thick skin union suit by by I.R. compare to a Henderson suit in warmth?

Hey Daniel,
That is a difficult question to answer without having a sample of the henderson fabric here, but based on the description of the fabric on the henderson web page, I would say that the henderson suit is a non-breathable (or poorly breathable) suit that can be used as a replacement for a light wetsuit. Basically, the henderson suit would be perfect for total immersion, where breathability and wicking aren’t an issue. Our Unionsuit is a 100 weight polar fleece that is meant as a layer. It will wick moisture, and breath better- perfect for underneath a waterproof breathable drysuit. Therefore, I think if you were standing neck deep in water, or swimming, the henderson suit would be a better choice. If you are looking for layering under a drytop, or a dryuit, or if you are doing any cold-weather, active, land-based activity (like skiing) our unionsuit would be better. Does this help?
